1. Turn on Bluetooth on your Mac.
2. Put your heart-rate device in broadcast, equipment, or pairing mode.
3. Open PurrBPM.
4. Click Connect Heart Rate.
5. Select a device that advertises Heart Rate service 0x180D.

PurrBPM works with devices that expose the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Profile.

• Compatible fitness wearables: enable their broadcast, sharing, or equipment mode first.
• Compatible BLE heart-rate straps: put the strap in pairing or broadcast mode.
• Generic Bluetooth BPM accessories: make sure the device is awake and not connected to another app.

Compatibility depends on the device exposing Heart Rate service 0x180D and Heart Rate Measurement characteristic 0x2A37 to macOS.

1. Make sure the device is not already connected to another app or machine.
2. Re-enable the device heart-rate broadcast mode.
3. Move the device closer to your Mac.
4. Use the Devices screen and run Compatibility Scan.
5. Try a standard Bluetooth heart-rate strap to confirm the Mac Bluetooth path works.

To try PurrBPM without a wearable, open the Live screen and click Start Sample Demo. Sample Demo uses simulated local BPM data so you can test the interface, menu bar readout, floating widget, recording, stats, and CSV export.

PurrBPM stores heart-rate recordings locally. It has no account system, analytics, ads, telemetry, third-party tracking SDKs, or cloud upload.

When requesting support, include:
